Dozens of flights suffered delays due to the heavy fog at Urumqi Diwopu International Airport (URC) on Friday morning.

China Southern Airlines (CZ) said 27 flights have been delayed for more than 1 hour at Urumqi airport.

Urumqi airport was covered by freezing fog on Friday morning and visibility fell to 100 meters.

As of 9:00 a.m., there were 2 departing flights and no arriving flights at the airport, said the airport operation center.

China Southern advises passengers to check the status of their flights through the airline's website, app, Wechat or calling the airline's customer service hotline +86-95539.
