Airbus is expanding its delivery capacity for the A320 family in Toulouse with a new integrated center

Airbus has officially unveiled a new delivery center at its Jean‑Luc Lagardère site, northwest of Toulouse, marking a significant milestone in the industrial ramp‑up of the A320 Family. Purpose‑built to reinforce production acceleration, the facility centralizes key end‑of‑line operations—including production activities, technical completion, and customer handover—within a single, integrated complex. This streamlined configuration enhances operational efficiency, strengthens industrial flow, and supports Airbus’s commitment to meeting growing global demand for the A320 Family.

Covering more than 35,000 m², the project mobilized over 700 contributors and 50 partner companies throughout its construction phase. With the opening of this facility, Airbus now has sixteen aircraft positions located directly adjacent to the final assembly line. The center also features the first hangar dedicated exclusively to technical adjustments and finishing for single‑aisle aircraft, enabling a more streamlined workflow and significantly accelerating end‑of‑line preparation operations.

Customers are received in a newly designed, purpose‑built space that now includes a dedicated customs clearance area for international deliveries. The layout has been conceived to offer a direct line of sight to their future aircraft from their assigned work zones, ensuring operational efficiency while fostering a seamless, transparent flow of interactions throughout the delivery process.

From both an architectural and logistical perspective, the project enhances the site’s existing infrastructure by routing all utility networks above ground via a purpose‑built bridge, preserving the natural groundwater resources beneath the facility. This new structural configuration is a strategic enabler for Airbus’s future production objectives, reinforcing the site’s capacity to support sustained industrial growth.

Airbus reaffirmed its industrial ambitions with the targets announced in late April during the presentation of its first‑quarter 2026 financial results: the company intends to reach a monthly production rate of 70 to 75 A320 Family aircraft by the end of 2027, before stabilizing at 75 aircraft per month. By the end of August, the A320 Family backlog stood at 7,577 aircraft, including 5,691 A321neo—underscoring sustained global demand and the strategic importance of the ongoing production ramp‑up.
