During the period January-April 2017, Heydar Aliyev International Airport serviced 1 million 62 thousand passengers, which is 36% more than the same period of last year.
AZAL carried 594,000 passengers, 158,000 of which were carried on domestic flights to Nakhchivan, Ganja and Gabala.
904,000 passengers (85%) of Baku airport were carried by international flights.
48.2% of the total international traffic of the airport accounted for Azerbaijan Airlines, 51.8% - foreign air carriers.
Istanbul, Moscow, Dubai and Kiev remained the most popular international destinations - the passenger flow to these cities was 62% of the total number. Tehran, Tbilisi, Doha and St. Petersburg (12% of passenger traffic) are also among the popular destinations.
Currently, Heydar Aliyev International Airport serves 28 airlines, five of them are low-cost carriers.
The new airport terminal of Heydar Aliyev Airport (Terminal 1) was put into operation in April 2014. Its total area is 65,000 square meters.
