Tecnam partners with an innovative airline  flyvbird, that will use smaller regional airports and an innovative algorithmic approach to provide an alternative to traditional modes of transport. Launched under the brand name flyvirtual, its focus today is on decentralised regional markets that have the potential to significantly impact the future of sustainable air travel, where the greatest customer value is in flying closer, faster and better in rural areas.

Along with new investment, flyvbird has formed a strategic partnership with TECNAM that will deliver the company’s first aircraft, the P2012, which offers versatile capabilities, competitive acquisition costs and low and “flat” operating costs, making the P2012 Traveller and P2012 STOL the perfect aircraft to launch this novel approach to on-demand services.

Tomislav Lang, Founder and CEO of flyvbird, commented: “We are thrilled to officially announce our close partnership with Tecnam, which will help us accelerate our growth and establish ourselves as a leader in personalized on demand air travel.”

Francesco Sferra, P2012 – Special Mission Platform Sales and Business Development Manager, Experimental Test Pilot, said: TECNAM has a proud history of developing innovative aircraft and we are delighted to be working with flyvbird to offer their customers a new and compelling air travel experience. The P2012 Traveller and P2012 STOL are the perfect fit for flyvbird’s success and network growth. “

The Traveller, which comfortably seats nine passengers with one or two crew, is a new generation, turbocharged, twin-engine, high wing, fixed wing aircraft. The choice of flyvbird provides customers with cost-effective and diverse configuration options, while delivering the experience that discerning travellers expect, such as premium interiors, in-seat power, superior legroom and under-seat stowage. The aircraft’s TKS de-icing capabilities and robust design enable flyvbird to provide reliable, on-time service to communities in any challenging weather environment.
