Hamish Davidson has been appointed new CEO of VLMAirlines. Claus Fischer and Werner Borchert have also joined the new management team of the Antwerp based European regional airline.

Hamish Davidson, the new CEO who succeeds to Steve Blair, has extensive airline and financial experience of more than 25 years. Prior he was CEO of Sunrise Airways and served as Executive Vice President of BAE Systems Asset Management, one of the world’s foremost lessors of regional aircraft to commercial aircraft operators, in addition to leading the company’s commercial aviation businesses in the USA.

Claus Fischer will be taking up the new role of Vice President Commercial Development. He has experience in many areas including airline turnarounds and has a strong record of revenue creation and has been in the airline industry since 1990. He is very well connected in the interline world with legacy carriers. He was CCO of Olympic Air during the successful turnaround.

Capt. Werner Borchert will be taking up the new role of Vice President Operations. He brings a wealth of experience as a pilot and operations professional and has held many senior roles during his long and successful career in excess of 30 years. He was COO of Olympic Air during the successful turnaround.

Arthur White, Chairman of VLM Airlines, said: “In order to move VLM Airlines forward extra resources are being brought into the company. This reinforcement will involve all areas and will drive business improvements.”

VLM Airlines – which began in 1993 with the first connection between Antwerp and London City Airport – has over the years become one of the most successful airlines in the field of charter flights, based on the Antwerp International Airport. With its fleet of Fokker 50 aircraft meets VLM Airlines to the needs in the European charter market, with ACMI / Wet lease contracts and charter services are offered including in the field of tour operators, travel agents, music & film, special events, incentives, sports teams, government and defense, NGOs and emergency assistance. Last year VLM Airlines started again with regional scheduled flights.
