Jet Maintenance Solutions (Jet MS) became one of the first MRO companies worldwide to complete the 7800 landings inspection on a Bombardier Challenger 604 (CL604) type aircraft as there are only 5-10 CL604s globally that reached such milestone.Additionally, base maintenance works after 48 months of exploitation were also carried out.

“The experience and professionalism of Jet MS team, close coordination with aircraft producer, have enabled us to complete this challenging project successfully. This is a major achievement for our company and proof of our ability to solve complex and non-standard cases effectively,” says Darius Saluga, CEO at Jet Maintenance Solutions.

To perform 7800 landings inspection, Jet MS engineers had to remove a majority of the main aircraft parts and components: engines, inner and backside fuel tanks, stabilizer and many others, which is not done during usual inspections after 48 and 96 months of aircraft operation.

Aircraft was almost disassembled, and all construction parts were inspected and a complex of non-destructive tests (NDT) such as x-ray, ultrasonic, eddy current, magnetic were performed.

That was a major and most crucial part of all the maintenance tasks. If NDTs related works usually make up to 3% of all base maintenance works scope, in this particular 7800 landings inspection they made up almost 30%.

7800 landings inspection for this aircraft type is quite rare in the market, as most of CL604s have not yet reached that milestone. This particular aircraft was used very intensively in short-haul flights – it has made from 30% to 90% more landings than average CL604 makes.

While performing NDTs, Jet MS had to coordinate all technical issues with Bombardier: communicate on technical documentation non-conformance cases and order the urgent basis (AOG) development for the standards that were not available in the market yet, search, set-up and tune of scanning probes and many more.

“Despite all the challenges, Jet MS team managed to get this maintenance project done efficiently and with quality, meeting demands of aircraft owner,“ tells D. Saluga.
