With a report on yesterday's developments on the first day of the MEBAA Show Morocco 2015, our SHOW BUSINESS team consider the opportunities created by the joint plans of Morocco’s Office National Des Aéroports (ONDA) and Director General D’Aviation Civile (DGAC), to develop Ben Slimane Airport into Morocco’s main dedicated business aviation hub – incorporating a new FBO – plus ONDA's announcement of its invitation for FBOs at several of the country's other main airports.

Morocco’s deputy minister of transport, Mohamed Najib Boulif, formally opened the show yesterday, meeting some of the exhibitors and discussing the huge potential for Moroccan and foreign companies to be part of the region's burgeoning market.

Several companies have already tapped into the business opportunities to be found in North Africa and our team look at some of the challenges they have overcome to gain a presence in the region, as well as the current environment facing operators looking to set up and help meet the increasing regional demand for business aircraft and executive aviation services, cargo, maintenance, completions, refurbishments, medical evacuation and training. There is also a focus on helicopters and fixed wing aircraft on display which are set to fulfil key roles in the future operational strategies of several new and established providers aiming to serve the region's varied requirements.
