Textron Aviation has marked a key milestone in the development of the Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen3 with the rollout of the program’s first production aircraft. The achievement brings the next-generation light jet a step closer to entry into service while underscoring the manufacturer’s continued investment in the Citation product line. Building on the proven CJ4 platform, the CJ4 Gen3 introduces Garmin G3000 PRIME avionics, Garmin Emergency Autoland and a range of customer-focused enhancements designed to elevate safety, connectivity and operational efficiency.
Eric Cardinali, senior vice president, Manufacturing Operations commented: “This rollout is a visible result of the care, precision and teamwork that move an aircraft from design intent to a production-ready airplane. For our manufacturing teams, it represents the disciplined execution behind every milestone — translating customer-driven innovation into a high-quality aircraft built to perform. I’m proud of the craftsmanship and collaboration that brought the first Citation CJ4 Gen3 production unit to this point.”
The Citation CJ4 Gen3 is poised to become the first light jet in its class to enter service with Garmin Emergency Autoland, an advanced safety system capable of autonomously taking control of the aircraft in the event of pilot incapacitation. The technology can identify a suitable airport, navigate the aircraft through approach and landing, and bring it safely to a complete stop.
At the heart of the aircraft is the new Garmin G3000 PRIME flight deck, designed to enhance situational awareness and streamline cockpit operations through intuitive touchscreen interfaces, advanced display technology and simplified pilot controls.
Developed in response to extensive customer feedback, the CJ4 Gen3 aims to further elevate the ownership and operating experience by combining cutting-edge technology with one of the most comprehensive standard equipment packages in the light jet segment.
While the aircraft reflects the next generation of Citation innovation, its rollout also highlights the collective effort behind the program. Teams across Textron Aviation worked closely to design, manufacture and advance the first production aircraft as the CJ4 Gen3 moves closer to entry into service. As the latest evolution of Textron Aviation's flagship light jet, the Citation CJ4 Gen3 reinforces the company's commitment to delivering innovative, customer-focused solutions while helping shape the future of business aviation.
