Have you ever wondered what are the most common items that people forget at the airports in general, and Dubai Airport in particular? And what happens to those items?
A Dubai International Airport spokesperson gave a list of the five most common items found at the airport.
"Generally, we have found that mobile phones, wallets, wrist watches, glasses and hand bags are the most common items found," said the spokesperson.
After the airport finds these items they immediately try to find the people who lost them, by tracking any personal information on the items found.
"Sadly this is not always the case and we have to wait for the passenger to contact us," he added.
If money is found, the airport hands over the money to the police, who wait for the person who lost the money to contact them.
"The most important thing is to track the people who lost the items, but until they come to ask for it, the airport ensures that every item is registered," he says.
Typically, items are brought into the lost property storage by different entities depending on where in the airport they are found and who turns them in - for example, sometimes by Dnata staff, airlines, Roads and Transport Authority or other passengers.
The airport spokesperson said that the main goal at the airport is to return the items found to their owners as soon as possible.
