Etihad Airways will introduce a new baggage policy, where the majority of routes will move to piece concept allowance, and excess charges will be cut.

The policy will work alongside the new Fare Choices tarrif structure, and will be effective as of next week.

It will provide guests with greater choice and flexibility based on their Fare Choice, route and Etihad Guest membership status.

“In line with industry best practice, we are moving to a fair and transparent baggage concept. Our new Fare Choices are an easier way for guests to understand what they are paying for, offering clearer pricing, and the flexibility which best suits their travel plans. This also applies to their baggage requirements,” said Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways chief commercial officer.

Those who also wish to buy additional luggage will be looking at reduced costs, and higher tier Etihad Guests will now be granted an extra bag or higher weight allowance based on their route.
