Tianjin Airlines (GS, Tianjin) is set to establish a new subsidiary carrier in China's southwestern Sichuan Province WCARN has reported quoting local media.

According to the outlet, the Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou) subsidiary will partner the China Western Development Co., Ltd. and local government in establishing the Xichang-based Xichang Airlines(Xichang). 

Once operational, the airline will primarily focus on serving the ChengduChongqing and Kunming Changshui markets while offering additional connections to cities in the Yangtze River and Pearl River Deltas as well as the Beijing and Tianjin metropolitan areas.

Exploratory talks concerning the project have already taken place.
