Flight attendant job is taken as a romantic one, but just few people know what is required in order to become a "celestial angel" - a lot of patience, hard work and physical strength. During 50skyshades visit to Baku we were honoured to find out some secrets, so we will try to unveil the mysteries of this romantic and at the same time as we are convinced of hard work
If you ask people, mostly you will hear that the essential task of flight attendants is to serve passengers. After talking to Nigar Gasimzadeh we understood how far is this „picture” from the real work of flight attendants. This fragile and very pleasant to talk lady is the leader of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL ) flight attendants . She is managing nearly 400 flight attendants of national air carrier .

In fact, the flight attendant has to be a doctor, psychologist, teacher, to know the rules of transportation of dangerous goods and much more. In brief, these are people responsible for passengers lives and safety.
Here are requirements for flight attendants:
• The height for girls from 165 cm to 180 cm;
• The height for guys - from 175 cm;
• The age of applicants - from 18 to 30 inclusive;
• Perfect Azerbaijan and Russian languages, English at pre-intermediate or intermediate (other languages are encouraged).
All good looking flight attendants, due to working conditions, must be absolutely healthy. Special medical commission is evaluating applicants health . Later, already working, all flight attendants have to pass the same health evaluation once a year. The medical commission pay special attention to the cardiovascular system, vision and psychological state. It is very important for flight attendants to be able to handle stress.
But that's not all. AZAL flight attendant job requires special training. Training apprentices is held in the National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan, which lasts two to three months.

The training consists of theoretical and practical parts. Trainees will learn about the structure of the aircraft, get acquainted with the technical and household equipment and aircraft passenger cabins cuisine, learn how to use rescue equipment, to settle conflicts and to provide medical care.
